DESCRIPTION:
"One became the strongest among warriors,
The other grasped the title of King among pirates,

Can the next rise to the challenges and claim the stature of Legend?"

MADE BY THE AMAZING :iconlumaga: check her out!!

When I first discovered DRAGONBALL, I believe that every manga had to be like that: super battles, drama, complicated situations, etc. Since then, the dream of becoming a mangaka was born, at the age of 9 years-old.

When DRAGONBALL was over, it was a shock for me as I felt a piece of me that vanish. That last final episode of GT, when Goku’s and Vegita’s descendants are fighting in a martial arts tournament as Goku is watching them, then flies off with his Flying Nimbus as Pan, now grandmother, tries but fails to catch him, I actually shed tears watching this. Akira Toriyama’s work, my idol in mangas, was completed and lay to rest. Nonetheless, my resolve became stronger each passing day. Throughout admiration in the manga-anime universe, I came to know many titles that swept me away, such as: Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Ranma ½, Inuyasha,Love Hina, Yu-Gi-Oh, Digimon, Oh My Goddess, Rurouni Kenshin, To-LOVE-ru, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Demon King, Devil Devil, 666 Satan (renamed O-Parts Hunters in America) and much more. But among them, one that I would qualify as the “successor of DRAGONBALL” would boost my heart, spirit and soul to new heights convincing me the path of manga is the one I must walk on and achieve. That manga, as you must have guessed, is none other than Eiichiro Oda’s ONE PIECE.

ONE PIECE reminded me a lot of DRAGONBALL. Even the author worshipped Toriyama like me. At the beginning, I wasn’t too confident about it, but as soon as I gave it a shot, I immediately fell in love with it. It had some of the same goofy stuff I’d see in DRAGONBALL and yet, it was still unique to its own universe. And after a while, One Piece became my favourite manga of all-time... of course, next to Toriyama’s greatest manga success.

This commissioned piece shows Goku and Luffy in the back as these two characters are my inspiration and their authors Akira Toriyama and Eiichiro Oda are my idols in the mangaka universe. In the middle is Sahn Lamarey, main character of my manga project HEART OF WILDFIRE. I’m not saying that I want to surpass these two legendary titles in manga history, far from that. I want to follow their path and make it happen, make my dream come true. I’ve seen so many people that had the talent to make the most incredible manga ever, but always ended up giving up halfway on the road. And I’m tired of this. I want to be one of the firsts to be recognized to have made it not only in Canada or North America, but worldwide. And when people will see :iconhaganenochibisan: and I, two Canadian artists becoming successful in the realm of mangas, then perhaps some talented artists will get up and be inspired by us.

This piece done by the talented Lumaga is a symbol of my determination. And as long as I don’t see HEART OF WILDFIRE in store, I won’t give up and back down. I’m in until the end. And perhaps along the way, we’ll have a chance to become known enough to make a permanent step in Japan and be acknowledged by Oda & Akira in person (which would be a dream come true.)
